2024 Synod of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States (DMAS)

Over a three-day period, June 13 - 15, about 120 Anglican Catholics from the Mid-Atlantic Diocese came to St. Alban's to conduct business and elect a new bishop.

Freddie Purkins was chosen by the vestry as the chief coordinator of the hosting activities. This included serving breakfast and lunch, conducting registration and childcare, and seeing to the needs and comfort of the guests and other incidentals during the event.

On Friday, July 14, Archbishop Haverland led the election. After the third ballot, the Ven. Jeffery Johnson, rector of All Saints - Saluda, was elected by the majority of the delegates.

The Synod ended with a Saturday morning mass, after which the attendees returned home. It was a very well-run and successful Synod thanks to Freddie and all of the St. Alban's members who gave of their time and talents.
